Potash North Resource Corporation ("Potash North" or the "Company") is a junior resource company focused exclusively on the exploration, evaluation and potential development of two subsurface potash permit areas (KP416 and KP417) in the Saskatchewan Potash Basin. Located immediately adjacent to Mosaic Company's Esterhazy operations and 45km North of Potash Corp.'s Rocanville Mine, the Company's permit areas are well situated in one of Saskatchewan's most established potash producing regions.
Historic drilling on the Company's permit areas has yielded encouraging results, justifying an exploration program aimed at confirming historic drill data and delineating further potash mineralization. Despite challenging market conditions, Potash North's established $30 million financial position allows the company to advance its exploration efforts.
Potash industry fundamentals remain very strong as the developing world continues to lead the demand for crop nutrients. Rising global population, increasing per capita incomes, and the depletion of arable land has put considerable strain on world grain inventories. As income grows in the developing world, individuals demand more protein-rich diets, forcing a multiplier effect on grain consumption. Additionally, world population is forecasted to reach 9 billion by 2050, up 35% from current levels. This imbalance between grain consumption and production requires farmers to produce more efficient crop yields by increasing fertilizer application. Saskatchewan remains a preeminent jurisdiction for expansion of the world's future potash capacity.
